Description: It is used to treat an antiviral medicine that is used alone or in combination with other medicine for treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. It should be used with caution in elderly patients.

Use of Isentress Tablet

Raltegravir belongs to the class of medications called antiretrovirals. It is used in combination with other antiretroviral medications to treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection in adults.

When not to use?

Stop taking this medicine and get emergency medical help if you have a fever, general ill feeling, muscle or joint pain, extreme tiredness, trouble breathing, swelling in your face or tongue, burning in your eyes, skin pain, followed by a red or purple skin rash that spreads (especially in the face or upper body) and causes blistering and peeling.

• Pregnancy
  This medicine is not suggested for use in pregnant women except required. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine.
• Breast-feeding
  This medicine is only suggested for use in breastfeeding women only when it is life-threatening conditions. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking it. The doctor’s advice might be discontinue the drug or discontinue breastfeeding based on your clinical condition.
• Alcohol
  Contact with alcohol is unknown. It is advisable to seek advice from your doctor before consumption.
• Driving or operating machinery
  It is not known whether Isentress Tablet may make you feel dizzy, drowsy or affect your vision alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react. For further details seek advice from your doctor.
• Kidney
  In rare cases, raltegravir can cause a condition that result in the breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue, leading to kidney failure.
• Liver
